REMOTES AND FOBS

Remotes and FOBs

Replacement remotes, key FOBs, chip key programming and laser cut keys at our Yakima counter.

Chapter 01

A remote or a FOB: which one is in your pocket

We sell remotes for most makes and models of cars and trucks. Before you call, work out which one you have, because the two do different jobs. A remote locks and unlocks your doors and sets the alarm. A FOB acts as a remote and is also required to start the vehicle. If the vehicle won't start without it in the cab, it's a FOB.

Remote - Locks and unlocks your doors and sets the alarm. (programming fee required). FOB - Acts as a remote and is also required to start the vehicle. (programming fee required). We print the programming fee required note on both because it's true of both: the part has to be taught to your vehicle before it works.

The photo on this page is a GM smart key fob on our own counter. Hold yours next to it. If the shape and the button layout are close, you already know most of what we'll ask on the phone.

Chip Key Programming, and the high-security laser cut key

A new remote or FOB does nothing until it's programmed to the vehicle, and that's the part people don't expect. The case can look identical to the old one and still be a dead piece of plastic in your hand. We do chip key programming here in Yakima, and the fee is separate from the part, which is why it is spelled out up front.

We cut high-security laser cut keys too. These are the keys with a groove milled down the middle of the blade, common on newer vehicles, and they need the right machine and a steady hand at the counter. A lot of FOBs hide one inside the case as an emergency blade, so the cut matters even if you never use it.

Tell us the year, the make and the model when you call. We'll tell you what we can supply and what the visit involves, and you won't be guessing across the whole Valley.

Chapter 03

Spares: get one before the last one fails

The cheapest time to make a second remote or key is while the first one still works. Once the last one is lost, you're into key originating and a tow, and the job gets longer. If you've got one FOB left and the buttons are going soft, treat that as your warning.

Contact us for Remote and Key FOB Replacement. Call the shop, or stop by 3402 West Washington Ave #118 in Yakima, Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 4:30 and Friday from 8:00 to 4:00. Bring the vehicle details, and bring the old remote if it still half works.
