Commercial locks and master key systems

Master key hierarchies, patented Medeco X4 key control, storefront door service and card access for businesses in Yakima, Ellensburg and Toppenish.

Chapter 01

Lost keys on a master system, and storefront hardware that has given up

On a master key system, one lost key is a building-wide question. Whoever finds that key, or never returned it, may open more doors than the person it was issued to. Many Yakima businesses live with that for years because rekeying the whole building feels like a project nobody has time for.

The other usual failure is the front door. Storefront hardware gets used all day, so closers drag, latches miss the strike, and the lock that once turned smoothly starts to need a jiggle. Customers notice a sticking door before they notice almost anything else about your shop.

Doors also get asked to meet ADA hardware expectations they were not built for. We will not hand you a legal opinion, but we will look at the doors you have and tell you what to ask about. Ask what your building needs.

Master key hierarchies, Medeco X4, and storefront and commercial doors

A master key system works as a hierarchy: one key per door, keys for a department or floor, and a top key for the owner. We plan that tree with you at the counter before cutting anything, so the keys match how your people actually work and not how a catalog shows it.

For key control, we use the patented Medeco X4 system. Because the system is patented, key duplication is controlled, so keys stay with the people you issued them to. The sign over our counter says Mul-T-Lock high security locks, and we carry General Lock as well.

We service storefront doors and install commercial doors, including hinge replacement and installation. For high-traffic openings, our continuous hinge page covers what we stock and how fast we can fit one. A local gym wrote that we fixed a lock on the spot and then came by to take care of their doors.

Chapter 03

Records and access: audit-trail cards and key control after turnover

Push-button entry locks and proximity card access with an audit trail give a business something a metal key never does: a record. You can see which credential opened a door, remove one person's card without touching anyone else's, and keep a record without a key box.

Staff turnover is where most key control quietly breaks. Someone leaves, a key stays in a pocket, and nobody checks. With Medeco X4 key control and a written key list, you know who holds what and can retire a key on the day it matters.
